Floral Design @ NYBG
The New York Botanical Garden Floral Design Certificate Program consists of 116 course hours, 26 elective hours, an 80-hour internship, and a portfolio. From November 2024 to August 2025, I fulfilled all of the course requirements and electives, including the Summer Intensive for a majority of my classes.
During my internship at Enchanted Blooms in Deep River, CT, I worked on several projects in addition to the day-to-day activities of a floral shop. These included some small and mid-sized weddings, and a funeral which I managed on my own. Among my duties were to receive inventory, condition flowers and greens, and to make arrangements and fulfill orders. The owner also trusted me to work at the shop while she was away for a few days. The experience of apprenticing at a shop was invaluable in terms of learning the local taste in florals, ordering proportionate and accurate amounts of materials, pricing, and interacting with all types of customers.
Below are images of work from each design class in the order in which they were completed. Please also see Original Work, with examples comprising my portfolio to date (April 2026).
